Harold “Skid” Turner, 68, of Paducah, died at 3 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Turner was born in the Ragland community on July 4, 1945, to the late Moffitt and Eileen Elrod Turner. “Skid” was a life member and past commander of VFW Post #1191, where he enjoyed cooking with his friends, Alan (A.J.) Jackson, George Ross, Bill Pryor and others. He was a member of American Legion Post #31, Elks and Eagles Club. He was a member of Newton Creek Baptist Church, a truck driver, a Deckhand for SC & NO Barge Line, and a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Bogusz of Tampa, Fla., and Phyllis Knight of Ballard County; one son, Richard Turner of Ballard County; two sisters, Donnette Bell of Kevil and Faye Foster of Florence, Ala.; two brothers, Kenneth Turner of Kevil and Donnie Turner of Paducah; four grandchildren, Joshua David Bogusz and John Luke Bogusz, both of Tampa, Fla., James Chase Turner and Jarrett Cole Turner, both of Ballard County; one great-granddaughter, Sabrina Bogusz; and his fianceĂŠ, Nina Bond of Paducah.
Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Mae Burgess Turner; one daughter, Lisa Ward; and two brothers, Terry Turner and Bobby Turner.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. F. Wayne Carter officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Newton Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
