MAYFIELD — Garland W. White, 55, of Martin, Tenn., died Saturday, July 13, 2013, in St. Louis.
He was an ordained minister who pastored several churches in the area, including Second Christian Church in Mayfield and St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Wingo. He was currently serving as pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Mounds, Ill. He served as past president of the Mayfield Ministerial Association, the Southern Illinois Ministries Alliance, and the Zion District Congress of Christian Education. He was currently serving as vice moderator of the Zion District Association of Illinois. He was also affiliated with Mason Memorial Chapel, having served as minister and assistant.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell Marberry White; two children, Mario Marberry of Fargo, N.D., and Camita Marberry of Denver; three brothers, Marvin Evans and Greg Evans, both of Sharon, Tenn., and Tracy White of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Twylia White of Sharon, Tenn., and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. His parents were Wade Louis Evans and Flo Ella White.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Martin with the Rev. Arthur Hannah officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery of Sharon.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
