Charles (Charlie) Madison Rucker III, 91, of Paducah, passed away at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Charlie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alma; and his sister Anna Lynn Mabry.
He is survived by his children, Kirsten Black and her husband Don of St Louis, Susan Block and her husband Don of Marietta, Ga., Charles (Cash) Madison Rucker IV and his wife Susan of Richmond, Va., Julia Rucker of Paducah, and Andrea Turner and her husband, A.J. of Simpsonville, S.C.; 11 grandchildren, Beth Ratkewicz, Katy Black, Andy Black, Mary Block, Adam Block, Lori Morrone, Matthew Rucker, Daniel Rucker, Sarah Turner, Hannah Turner, and Michael Turner; and four great-grandchildren, Otto Ratkewicz, Olivia Black, Emaline Black, and Hannah Morrone.
Captain Charlie served in WWII in the United States Army Air Force from 1942-1947. He received the award of Silver Star for Valor among various other medals. Capt. Rucker flew 72 bombing missions. Charlie began his career with Ozark Air Lines in Dyersburg, Tenn., and retired with them in 1979 in St. Louis. Charlie was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He led an extremely exciting and full life but his family was his greatest joy. He was so very loved by all of them and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center, Ky., Friday, May 3, 2013, from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joel Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Newton Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
