METROPOLIS, Ill. — Electa L. McDearmon, 81, of Metropolis died at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, at her residence with her family by her side.
She worked at and retired from Valco Feed Company after 38 years. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church and was baptized on Easter Sunday in 1950. She was also a member of the Garden Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, First Christian Church Club, and the Christian Women’s Fellowship Club.
She is survived by her husband of 62¾ years, Stewart “Mutt” McDearmon of Metropolis; one son, Randall McDearmon and wife Joanne of Metropolis; 5 grandchildren, Ryan McDearmon and wife Kristen of Nashville, TN, Melissa McDearmon of St. Louis, MO, James Travis McDearmon and wife Julie of Lexington, KY, Eric McDearmon of Metropolis, Zach McDearmon of Metropolis; one great-grandson Connor McDearmon of Metropolis; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Gertrude (Schmidt) Caywood; one son, Michael McDearmon; her brother, Floyd Schmidt.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the First Christian Church in Metropolis. Rev. Mike Duncan will officiate. Burial will follow at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.
