MAYFIELD — Mrs. Margaret Pierceall Burd, born November 24, 1918, and passed away March 6, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Heritage Manor Healthcare Facility in Mayfield.
Margaret was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of St. Jerome Catholic Church at Fancy Farm, until after her husband Johnnie Burd passed away. She then left the farm and moved to Mayfield, then becoming a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Margaret was a retired homemaker and beauty shop operator. She had a very open, friendly, outgoing personality with a lovely sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. She made acquaintances easily and never met a stranger. “Maggie” loved everyone and had a special affinity for children.
Her favorite pastime was working in her garden and flowers and she could make most anything grow. She possessed many admirable traits and was very much dedicated to her family, friends and religion. She worked hard all her active life and was quite generous and prayed often. Her love for her Lord and savior never once faltered in her long life. She will be sadly missed by those who loved her.
She is survived by one son, Rudy Dale Burd and wife Susie of West Plains, Mo.; her grandson, Steven Joseph Burd of Tucson, Ariz., her granddaughter, Jessie D’Agostino of La Mirada, Calif., her grandson, James Donald Burd and wife Lorrie of Eldorado, Kan., her granddaughter, Lanette Ballard and Shonda LeeAnn Moore, both of Graves County, Ky., her grandsons, Randall Nall and Richard Nall, both Graves County, Ky., her granddaughter, Lacy Foy of Marble Hill, Mo.; her daughter, Mary Ellen Sullivan and husband David of Mayfield, Ky.; her grandsons, Darrell Sullivan and John David Sullivan, both of Graves County, her granddaughter, Kristie Dukes of Calloway County, Ky.; three brothers, Joseph E. Pierceall of Muncie, Ind., Charles Noland Pierceall of Washington, Ill., and Robert Dale Pierceall of Mayfield, Ky.; one sister, Lucille Wilson of Las Vegas, Nev.; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; and dozens of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Burd; her brother-in-law, Flavious Burd; her son, Carl Edd Burd; her daughter, Linda Marie Nall Foy; her granddaughter, Marie Antoinette Burd; her father, Carl Edwin Pierceall; her mother, Martha Ellen O’Conner Pierceall; her brothers, John Edwin Pierceall, Martin Pierceall, Vernon Pierceall, Roland Pierceall, Kenneth Ray Pierceall; her stepbrother, Joseph Ernest Hayden; her sisters, Ruth Virginia Clapp and Shirley Ann Rose.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm with Rev. Darrell Venters officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Jerome Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Mitch Guthrie, Cliff Guthrie, David Guthrie, Eddie Gene Cook, Roger Pierceall and Bobby Pierceall.
Honorary pallbearers will be: John David Pierceall, Mark Pierceall, Dennis Pierceall, Larry Clapp and David Clapp.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
