CALVERT CITY — Alfred L. Reed, 82, of Calvert City died at 12:15 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at his home.

He was a retired Boilermaker with Local Union 40 of Elizabethtown and a member of Apostolic House of Prayer of Paducah and American Legion Post 236 of Calvert City.

He is survived by his wife, Mayme (Tyree) Reed; three sons, Darrell L. Reed and Gerald W. Reed, both of Sharpe, and Stephen C. Reed of Calvert City; one daughter, Holly L. Eaves of Calvert City; three brothers, Ervey Lee Reed of St. Louis, Erby Reed of Paducah, and Alpha Ray Reed of Calvert City; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. His parents were Worthy L. Reed and Flora (Thompson) Reed.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with the Revs. Raymond Conners and  Jimmy Eaves officiating. Burial will follow at Birmingham Cemetery in Briensburg, with full military honors.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at the funeral home with Boilermaker Rites held at 7 p.m.
