BENTON — Martha Luella “Shorty” Parrish, 89, of Benton, Kentucky, died on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City, Kentucky.

She was a homemaker and member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church.

Born Wednesday, September 26, 1923, in Benton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ray Butler and the late Mayme Lorena (English) Butler. She was the wife of the late Paul Edward Parrish.

Surviving are sons, Marshall Parrish (Faye) of Livingston County, Ky., Gene Parrish of Cadiz, Ky., Charles Parrish of Calvert City, Ky., Boyd Parrish (Connie) of Cadiz, Ky.; daughter, JoAnn Stone (Chris) of Benton, Ky.; sister, Florence Collins of Benton, Ky.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sons, Reggie Parrish, David Parrish; daughter, Ella Parrish; brothers, Charles Butler and Raymond Butler; sisters, Mildred Puckett and Betty Tarry.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Collier Funeral Chapel, located at 211 West 5th St., Benton, Kentucky, with the Rev. Bill Amberg officiating. Interment will follow in Marshall County Memory Gardens, Benton, Ky.

Visitation will be held between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Collier Funeral Home on Sunday, February 24, 2013.
