CUNNINGHAM — Mr. James Elmer Toon, age 88, of Cunningham, Ky., died at 11:50 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013, at the Superior Care Home of Paducah.
James Elmer was a retired boilermaker, a member of the St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Catherine Marshall Toon of Cunningham; daughters, Delores Toon Wilson and husband Thomas Larry of Milburn, Ky., and Vickie Toon Duff and husband John of Kirbyton, Ky.; granddaughters, Holly Wilson Newton and husband Geoffrey of Bardwell, Ky., and Heather Duff Case and husband Jeremy of Kirbyton, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Alex and Courtney Case of Kirbyton and Emma and Thomas Newton of Bardwell; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Marvis Stoner Toon; brothers, Noble Toon, Joe Toon, Hobert Toon, Howard Toon, and Henry Toon; sisters, Roxanne Redden, Tossie Bagsby, Frances Garland, Pauline Ellegood and Annie Hayden.
Funeral Mass for James Elmer will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm. Father Darrell Venters will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Jerome Church Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call after 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the St. Jerome Catholic Church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a gift of flowers or contributions to the St. Jerome Catholic Church.
