METROPOLIS, Ill. — Ms. Wilma P. Sanders, 87, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Baptist Health Paducah.

Wilma was born December 12, 1925, in Miami County, Ind., the daughter of Albert Leffel and Elizabeth (Hoover) Leffel. Wilma graduated from Albion High School in Albion, Ind., with the class of 1943. Wilma retired from Indiana Wire Die factory in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Seven Mile Baptist Church. Pastors Frank Forthman and Justin Reynolds will be officiating. Burial will follow in Seven Mile Church Cemetery.

Ms. Sanders was a member of Seven Mile Baptist Church and active in the church family and the church WMU for many years preceding her death. She was also a lifetime member of TOPS and an artist who enjoyed painting. Wilma loved life and enjoyed visiting with friends, family, and a very special k-9 “Lucy.”

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Wilma Ann Malin of Metropolis; three grandchildren, Perry Malin and wife Patsy of Dallas, Texas, Patti Eichorn and husband Monty of Metropolis, and Penny Rodriquez and husband Jose of Metropolis; three great-grandchildren, Colton Eichorn, Madison Eichorn, and Clayton Eichorn, all of Metropolis; three sisters, Ethal Lang of Redding, Calif., Hazel Ridyard of Oceanside, Calif., and Miriam Shultz of Wolcottville, Ind.

She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elizabeth Leffel; three sisters, May DeWald, Evelyn Black, and Mary Richardson; one brother, Walter Leffel; and son-in-law, Pat Malin.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 17, 2013, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Seven Mile Baptist Church.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to: Seven Mile Baptist Church, 2513 IL 145 Metropolis, IL 62960.
