ANNA, Ill. — Jo Ann Mathis Burk, 72, of Anna, formerly Charleston, Mo., died Friday, February 1, 2013, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

She had been employed as an LPN at Choate Mental Health Center. She had worked in the emergency room at Missouri Delta Medical Center, the Charleston Manor prior to moving to Anna. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Anna.

She is survived by three sons, Michael Burk of Vandenburg, Calif.; Terry Joe Burk of Edwardsville, and Gregory Dale Burk of Anna; four sisters, Betty Ruth Passley and Debra Ward, both of Fredricksburg, Va.; Donna Marshall of York, S.C. and Tammy Hale of Benton; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ed Burk; one brother; and one sister. Her parents were J.R. and Maudie Ardella Barber Mathis

Services will at be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., with the Rev. Dan Faust officiating. Burial will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
