Norma J. (Gokie) Sloan
Norma J. (Gokie) Sloan, 82, of Paducah, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Lourdes hospital.
She was a member of Arcadia United Methodist Church in Paducah. She was a 1949 graduate of Augusta Tilghman High School. She was a longstanding active member of the Echo Bridge Club, a lifetime member of Lourdes Auxiliary, and a member of the Cinnamon Sisters of Arcadia.
She is survived by her sons, Terry M. Sloan (and his wife, Karen) of Paducah, Dr. Stephen L. Sloan (and wife, Deb) of Eatonton, Georgia, and Stanley (Chip) Sloan of Paducah; her granddaughters, Taylor Sloan, Jennifer Pitt (and husband, Curtis), Elizabeth Azar (and fiancé, Brandon Campbell), all of Paducah, Tera Lorino (and husband, Michael) of Huntersville, North Carolina, Halli Sloan of Bloomington, Indiana, Andi Sloan of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Alexis Scranton of Eatonton, Georgia; grandsons, Michael Sloan of Paducah; and Adrian Scranton of Eatonton, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Kameron Sloan Edwards, Piper Sloan, and Jack Sloan, all of Paducah, Sloan Lorino and Abbie Lorino, both of Huntersville, North Carolina; and a niece, Janice Thompson of Paducah.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Samual S. Sloan Jr.; her parents, Athol Vernon Peery and Beulah Mae (Knight) Peery; sister, Gretchen Langston; and brothers, Vernon Peery and “Babe” Peery.
There will be no public visitation. Private family services will be held. A memorial for Mrs. Sloan will be held at a later date at Arcadia United Methodist Church in Paducah with Bro. Barry Roberts officiating. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
