METROPOLIS, Ill. — Services for William J. Davidson, 81, of Metropolis, formerly of Connecticut, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis. The Rev. Alan Milligan will officiate. Burial will be in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Davidson died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at his home.
He was a member of Powers United Methodist Church. He was a retired technician with Sikorsky Aircraft and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Sheffer Davidson; a daughter, Elizabeth Czarnecki of Metropolis; a son, Mark Davidson of Metropolis; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Scott Davidson and William “Bill” Davidson Jr.; and a brother. His parents were Gilbert and Edith Malcome Davidson.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at the funeral home.
