VIENNA, Ill. — Lewis Franklin “Buster” May Sr., 84, of Vienna died at 1:21 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Herrin Hospital.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had been employed as a construction laborer and farmer. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. May is survived by six children, Bob May of Santa Cruz, Calif., Becky Doyle of Reno, Nev., Diana Funk of Tunnel Hill, Ill., Serena Brenningmeyer of Vienna, Frank May of the Rosebud community, and Elizabeth Easley of Colp, Ill.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marguerite MacArthur of Fort Myers, Fla., and Bernice Osbourne of Tomball, Texas; and one brother, Clarence “Jack” May of Memphis, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by one son, Donald May; two sisters; and one brother. His parents were Irl Vance May Sr. and Serena Josephine Dixon May.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Military flag presentation will be accorded by the Illinois National Guard Burial Honors Detail. Interment will be in the National Cemetery at Mound City.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
