BENTON — Joe “Rass” Parker, 91, of Benton, Kentucky, died on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Marshall County Hospital in Benton, Kentucky.
He was a truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Local 236 in Paducah.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II.
Born Saturday, August 6, 1921, in Marshall County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Walter Parker and the late Odie Canup Parker.
He was the husband of the late Dora Dunn Parker.
Surviving are sons, Bobby Joe Parker of North Carolina and Gary Wayne Parker of Mayfield, Ky.; sisters, Mary Helen Gregory of Benton, Ky., Dorothy Sue Walker of Calvert City, Ky., and Martha Lou Noles of Benton, Ky.; grandchildren, Gina Parker Justice, husband Trey of Columbus, Ohio, Shawna Parker Wadkins, husband Roy Jr., of Calvert City, Ky., Jarrod Parker, wife Gina of Columbus, Ohio, and Ryan Parker, girlfriend, Kayla Cutsinger of Benton, Ky.; and six great-grandchildren also survive.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dora Dean (Dunn) Parker; brothers, Will Parker and Rex Parker; and half sister, Shirley Miller.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Collier Funeral Chapel, located at 211 West 5th St., Benton, Kentucky 42025, with the Rev. Albert Rose Jr. officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow in Marshall County Memory Gardens, Benton, Ky.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Collier Funeral Home.
