William “Bill” Beasley, 83, of Paducah passed away peacefully at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012, at his home.

“Red,” as he was known to many of his coworkers, retired from Martin Marietta (USEC), where he worked as a Maintenance Mechanic for 35 years. He served as Vice President of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union, and as Secretary/Treasurer of the National Atomic Workers Safety Council.

After his retirement from Martin Marietta, he worked at Enterprise RentACar for fourteen years, until his retirement in 2008.

Mr. Beasley was a US Navy veteran, a member of First Christian Church, and an American Red Cross volunteer for 24 years. During that time, he received the Hometown Heroes Award for outstanding volunteer service, and the Clara Barton Honor Award for meritorious service in a volunteer leadership position.

Surviving are his son, Kevin (Jeni) Beasley of Paducah; his daughter, Pam (Steve) Krueger of Dekalb, Ill.; four grandchildren, Justin (Shianna) Horner, Jeremy Horner, and Steffin and Aimee Beasley, and one great-granddaughter, Rylan Horner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Beasley, and one grandson, Eric Beasley. His parents were John and Alice Beasley.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Roth Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jae Gottman officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the funeral home.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to the nurses who helped provide loving care to Mr. Beasley at his home.
