GOLCONDA, Ill. — Norman Ledbetter, 91, of Golconda died Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Lourdes hospital.
He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He received three Bronze Stars. He was a lifelong carpenter and member of Carpenters Union Local 272 Chicago Heights, Ill. He was a foreman for EJ Albright Construction, and a member of Union Social Brethren Church.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Ledbetter; five children, Phyllis Hammonds of Tennessee, Vickey Plumley of Illinois, Tim Ledbetter, Ruth Nelson, Martha Sandefur, all of Tennessee; one sister, Helen Ralph of Illinois; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. His parents were Otto and Junie (Rose) Ledbetter.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville with the Revs. Bob Patton and Steve Hunt officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Cemetery near Eichorn. VFW Post 9227 and American Legion Post 719 will conduct military honors. Friends may call after noon Saturday, December 22, 2012.
