METROPOLIS, Ill. — Mrs. Elsie Mae (McBride) Davis, 94, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Samoth, Ill., December 27, 1917, to Aytch and Maggie (Staton) McBride.

Elsie was married on December 15, 1945, to Carl “Bunny” Davis, and they were married for over 45 years. She was employed by Good Luck Glove Company most of her life. She also loved helping her husband Carl on their farm. Later on they sold the farm and moved to Metropolis in 1977. Elsie was a member of the Metropolis First Baptist Church.

Elsie is survived by her brother, Russell McBride and wife Maxine, of New Columbia, Ill.; five nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews; six great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Edward McBride and wife Gladys.

Visitation will be held Monday evening, December 10, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Rev. Joe Buchanan and Rev. David Deem will officiate. Burial will follow in IOOF Cemetery in Metropolis.
