MARION — Services for the Rev. Wendalenous Joel Cox, 67, of Marion will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery with military rites conducted.

Mr. Cox, a Southern Baptist minister, died Sunday at Livingston County Hospital in Salem.

A native of Sebring, Fla., he was a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was employed as a plumber for the federal government until his retirement. He also drove a school bus for the Crittenden County School System for 23 years. He pastored several churches in western Kentucky and Evansville, Ind.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Linda Gayle Cox; a daughter, Melissa Beavers of Princeton; a son, Timothy Alan Cox of Marion; three brothers, Rodger Dale Cox of Evansville, Mitchell Keith Cox of Haubstadt, Ind., and Charles Daniel Cox of Newburgh, Ind.; a sister, Brenda Winternheimer of Newburgh; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Aaron Cox. His parents were Charles Joseph and Marjorie Ellen Cox.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
