LA CENTER — George Lamar Bryant, 82, of La Center, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on November 16 at 3:20 p.m. at Life Care Center of La Center.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Patsy Jean Shirley Bryant of La Center; son, Warren Bryant and his wife Belinda of La Center; daughter, Gwen Meriwether and her husband Ted of La Center, daughter, Sybil Slusmeyer and her husband Jeff of Paducah, daughter, Nancy Davis and her husband Kevin of Kevil; son, Bruce Bryant of La Center; and one brother, Thomas Duard Bryant of La Center. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Scott Bryant of Lexington, Shirley Adams of Wingo, Nicole Slusmeyer Overby of Nashville, Doug Meriwether of Lexington, Stefani Meriwether of Paducah, Paige Bryant of Bowling Green, Chris Bryant of Murray, Candace Bryant of Nashville, Josh Bryant of Evansville, and Abby Slusmeyer of Paducah. He is survived by one great-grandchild, Tyler Adams of Wingo.

Lamar retired from USEC in 1995 as a quality inspector. He served as city councilman and mayor of La Center for 30 years. He was a member of Milburn Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as Sunday school teacher, elder, and represented the church in the Covenant Presbytery and Kentucky Synod. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean Conflict and served in the Army Reserves.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 18 with funeral services at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 19 at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center. Graveside services will follow at La Center Gardens. Services will be officiated by Brother Doug Hughes. Expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of contributions to the building fund of Milburn Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in West Paducah.
