LEXINGTON — Whitney Gail Praska, 29, Lexington, Ky., passed away peacefully Sunday, November 11, 2012, at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center surrounded by family and friends.
A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and employed by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Whitney is survived by her mother, Cindy Praska of Lexington, stepfather, Tim Praska; and brothers, Garet Praska of Boone, N.C., and Trevor Praska of Richmond, Ky.; grandparents, Charles and Pat Geveden of Frankfort and Wickliffe; several aunts, uncles and cousins, and her beloved dog, George Jasper.
Whitney was a woman of great strength and courage who brought love, light, laughter, and inspiration to those she touched throughout her life. She was actively involved in raising cancer awareness, including founding “Boobalooza,” an annual fundraising event to benefit cancer research, including the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; and served as 2012 Honorary Chair, Rally for the Cure, Frankfort. Whitney was also a participant in the National Cancer Institute’s Li-Fraumeni Syndrome Study.
Visitation will be held at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home in Frankfort, Ky., on Friday, November 16, 2012, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a brief service at 7 p.m. with Dr. Robert Browning officiating.
A celebration of Whitney’s life will be held December 8, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. at a location to be announced.
