HICKORY —  Earl D. Despain, 64, of Hickory died at 1:25 a.m. Thursday at his home.

He worked as a commercial and residential property restorer and was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Inderwiesen Despain; two stepdaughters, Dawn E. Walling of Overland Park, Kan., and Carrie Gaines, of Webster Groves, Mo.; one stepson, S. Paul Lewis of Maple Valley, Wash.; his mother, Merrie Earline Whitledge Despain of Lowes; one sister, Dianne Sloan of Lowes; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl M. Despain.

There will be no visitation or funeral services.

Arrangements are being handled by Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and Crematory.
