Joyce R. Cooper, 79, of Ooltewah, Tenn., passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012.

A native of Hickman, Ky., she resided in the Lexington and Paducah, Ky., areas before moving to the Chattanooga area 12 years ago.

She sang in the choir and taught the children’s Sunday School Class at the Concord United Methodist Church in Paducah and has attended the Ooltewah United Methodist Church for the past 12 years, where she also sang in the choir.

She was the daughter of the late RC and Mary Lucille Jackson Ross and was the wife of the late Dr. Charles Cooper.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Robert C. Taylor, Ooltewah; three grandchildren, Michael (Cindy) Taylor, Stephanie Arnold and Allan (Amanda) Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Calle and Mason, Arnold, Cooper and Baker Taylor; three sisters, Delores Davis and Wanda Callison, both of Union City, Tenn., and Gloria McMillin, New Albany, Miss.; two brothers, Boyce D. Ross, Paducah, Ky., and Art S. Ross, Union City, Tenn.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, Oct. 16, 2012, at the Ooltewah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Amy Nutt officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Hickman, Ky.

The family request memorial contributions be made to the Ooltewah United Methodist Church, 6131 Relocation Way, Ooltewah, TN 37363.

The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
