Mary Catherine Northington Wallace, 92, of Paducah died Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Life Care Center in La Center.

Mary Catherine was born November 26, 1919, in the Bandana community of Ballard County to the late Clayton O’Dell Northington and Sarah Louise Hill Northington.

She was a homemaker and member of Little Union Homemakers. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, growing flowers and designing fresh bouquets for her home. Mary was a longtime faithful member of Olivet Baptist Church. Hospitality and service to others were her gifts to her family and community.

She is survived by six children, Norman (Patty) Wallace and Morris (Edith) Wallace, both from West Paducah, William “Bill” Wallace from Hartford, Ky., Jerry Wallace from Duluth, Minn., Nelda (Dale) Gaines of Cookeville, Tenn., and Annette (Terry) Becker of Nashville, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Janet Wallace.

Preceding her in death were her husband of over 73 years, George W. Wallace; a son, David Wayne Wallace; a sister, Rebecca Ann Crotzer, and two brothers, Thomas Leon Northington and Morris Hill Northington.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2012, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
