CADIZ — LeRoy B. Martin, 81, of North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Cadiz, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Lee County Memorial Hospital.

He worked for General Electric and Wellman Thermal Systems over 33 years before starting his own business, Wire Equipment Sales. He joined the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne station at Fort Campbell. He later joined the Indiana Army National Guard where he retired as Master Sergeant with HHC, 38th Combat Aviation Brigade.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine “Kay” Martin; two sons, LeRoy “Benjie” Martin II, of Shelbyville, Ind., and Andrew Joseph “A.J.” Martin of Indianapolis, Ind.; three daughters, Sabrina Parker of Lewisburg, Tenn., Debra Sturgeon of Pittsboro, Ind., and Tamra McConnell of Greenfield, Ind.; three sisters, Lillian “Lil” Johnson of St. Paul, Minn., Anita “Nitzie” Kraus, of Marshfield, Wis., and Mary Alice “Sis” Brown of West Allis, Wis.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean West Martin; one son, Perry LeRoy Martin; four brothers; and two sisters. His parents were Joseph and Susan Martin.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at King’s Funeral Home with Rev. Babu Joseph officiating. Private burial ceremony will be in the Ridgetop Cemetery with military rites. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
