Mr. and Mrs. David E. Forsythe of Paducah announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Nicole Forsythe, to Jimmy Rex Smith II, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Smith of Paducah.

Miss Forsythe is the granddaughter of Margaret Hankins of Paducah and the late Roy Hankins Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Forsythe of Grand Rivers. She is a 2006 graduate of Lone Oak High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in finance in 2010 and a master’s degree in business administration in 2011 from Murray State University, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She is employed at the Orthopaedic Institute of Western Kentucky in Paducah.

Mr. Smith is the grandson of Ann Taylor of Paducah and the late Jack Taylor, and Mary Smith of Paducah and the late Jim R. Smith Sr. He is a 2006 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and earned a degree in urban and environmental planning from the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. He is employed by Jim Smith Contracting in Grand Rivers.

Wedding vows will be exchanged Oct. 6 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Smith in Paducah.
