INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, Fla. — Billie Jo Paris, of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, and formerly of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away in Des Peres, Missouri, on July 10, 2012, with her family at her side.
She is survived by her daughter, Jo Ellen Paris Miller and her husband, Michael of Manchester, MO.; her grandson, Grant Paris Miller and wife, Pamela, and great-grandson, Ethan Michael Miller of Clayton, MO.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Milton Lindsay; her second husband, Walter Brack Paris Jr.; her father, William Russell Tiner, and mother, Lois Ella Lemley Tiner.
She worked many years for her father keeping books for Bonifield Brothers Trucking in Metropolis, and in 1964 she became bookkeeper for the City of Metropolis. In 1968 she joined her father “Bill” in Tiner’s Accounting and Bookkeeping Service in Metropolis. After his death in 1969 she continued to run the business until her retirement in 1983. During her years in Metropolis she was a Girl Scout leader and involved in the Parent Teacher Association. She was also involved in the community, raising funds for building the Massac Memorial Hospital.
In 1984 she moved to Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, and started a new chapter of life. She became a member of the Patrick Women’s Golf Association where she was known for her skill and love of golf. She spent many hours volunteering as a Tax Preparer for AARP. She leaves behind a loving family and friends that will greatly miss her.
A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Metropolis, Friday, July 20, 2012, with Rev. Joe Jimerson officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
