MOUNDS, Ill. — Julia H. Moses, 85, of Mounds died Tuesday morning at Marka Nursing Home in Mascoutah.

She was born November 25, 1926, in Olive Branch, Ill., the daughter of the late William and Thelma A. Wonderby Wilbourn. She was married to Sam Moses, who preceded her in death January 14, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Northington; her son, David G. Moses, and two sisters. Mrs. Moses was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mound City, the St. Mary’s Sodality, and the Egyptian Country Club near Mounds, where she was also a member of the Ladies’ Golf Association. She was a retired registered nurse and school nurse for the Egyptian School District near Tamms.

Mrs. Moses is survived by two daughters, Cecilia Ann (Roger) Devore of Lebanon, Ill., and Carol (John) Stout of Mounds; two sons, James M. (Chong) Moses of Herrin, Ill., and Billy (Janet) Moses of Mounds; two sisters, Elizabeth Hardrick of Joliet, Ill., and Pat Gentry of Conn.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation is at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo, where friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, July 16. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. The Funeral Mass for Mrs. Moses will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mound City with the Rev. Fr. Chris Mujuli as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mounds. At the request of the family, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Southern Illinois Hospice or the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery Fund in memory of Mrs. Moses.
