MURRAY — James S. “Jim” Lawson, 71, of Murray, died Friday at Lourdes hospital in Paducah.

Mr. Lawson served as the first principal at the Murray-Calloway County Vocational School and was a volunteer with the Murray Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Glendale Road Church of Christ and previously served as an elder.

He is survived by his wife, Delores Lawson; two sons, Todd Lawson of Franklin, Tenn., and Chad Lawson of Murray; and three grandchildren.

His parents were Rollie and Kathleen Shelton Lawson.

Services will be held Tuesday at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with John Dale and Garry Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery in Mayfield.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
