MARTIN — Frederick Joseph Martin V, 80, of Martin died Sunday at his home.
He was born to the late Frederick and Aura Martin, Nov. 19, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio. Fred graduated from St. Thomas Academy in 1951. He married Mary Margaret Harrison in 1976 and they lived together in Toledo, Ohio, before relocating to Martin in 1989.
Fred was the superintendent and vice president at Martin Brothers Container and Timber Products until he retired in 1991. Fred was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Union City, Tenn., and the Knights of Columbus Council #2338 out of Lone Oak, Ky.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Margaret (Harrison) Martin; his daughters, Laura Martin of Myrtle Beach, and Rose McCon and her husband, Jeff of Ponchatoula, L.A.; his son, Fred Martin VI and his wife, Kristen of Martin; daughter, Anne Delisle and her husband, Joe of Grand Blanc, Miss.; five grandchildren, Shelbie, Whitney, and Courtney Jones of Ponchatoula, Freddie Martin of Martin, and Anthony Delisle of Grand Blanc, Miss., and three sisters, Rita Babione of Rena, Nevada, Cecilia Austin of Farmington Hills, Miss., and Loretta Landry of Arvada, Colo.
A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Union City, Tenn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., also at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Massac Memorial Gardens in Metropolis, Ill.
In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Union City Right to Life.
