LA CENTER — Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Turner of La Center celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Thursday with a family dinner.

Mr. Turner and the former Edoenna Penn were married Jan. 26, 1947, by the Rev. Franklin R. Flatt at Fountain Avenue Methodist Church in Paducah. Their attendants were Billie Willis, sister of the bride, and Waymon Coleman.

Mrs. Turner is the retired owner/operator of T’s Shoppe Ladies Ready to Wear. She is the daughter of the late Marshall and Sallie Penn.

Mr. Turner is a retired utility superintendent for Commonwealth Service Corp. Natural Gas Utility. He is the son of the late Owen and Myrtie Turner.

They have two children: Teresa Higdon of Lone Oak and Ricky Turner of Reidland; and two grandchildren.
