HICKORY — Mr. and Mrs. Jerrel Winfrey of Hickory celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday.

Mr. Winfrey and the former Patricia Simmons were married Dec. 23, 1961, in Melber with Randall Johnson officiating. Their attendants were Gerald Scott and Delene Riley.

Mrs. Winfrey is the daughter of the late Elzie Simmons and the late Hilda Simmons.

Mr. Winfrey is the son of the late Terry and Lorine Winfrey.

They have three children: Martie Winfrey of Hickory, the late Michelle Winfrey Smith and the late Leigh Ann Winfrey Clapp; and one grandchild.
