Instant Snow

Have you ever wanted to create your own snow even when it’s hot outside? According to “Science Guy” Jason Lindsey with Hooked on Science, you can and all you need is a polymer you can purchase online called Instant Snow. Make sure an adult supervises with this, and all experiments.

Supplies

Instant Snow polymer

Water

Transparent cup

Instructions

STEP 1: Place one teaspoon of Instant Snow polymer into the transparent cup.

STEP 2: Quickly add two ounces of water to the transparent cup and watch.

Explanation

The Instant Snow polymer, a chemical compound made by linking smaller molecules in a long, repeating chain, is a super-absorbent polymer. The powder is able to absorb as much as 500 times its mass of water within a few seconds.
