Mr. and Mrs. David Smith of Paducah recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by taking a trip out West, a family gathering at their home and dinner at Patti’s restaurant in Grand Rivers.

Mr. Smith and the former Nancy Jo Roper were married Sept. 2, 1961, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church by the Rev. Martin Nahstoll. Their attendants were Warner Reynolds and Marilyn Cain.

Mrs. Smith is a retired deputy clerk in the Circuit Court Clerk’s office. She is the daughter of the late E.J. and Dorothy Roper.

Mr. Smith is a retired sales manager for Heil Beauty Supply and State Beauty Supply. He is the son of the late George and Emma Smith.

They are the parents of Wayne Smith of Hendersonville, Tenn., Lynn Brannon of Melber and the late Wesley Jay Smith. They have three grandchildren.
