MURRAY — Mr. and Mrs. Sherrill Gargus of Murray celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday with a family dinner at Patti’s restaurant in Grand Rivers.

Mr. Gargus and the former Greta Brooks were married June 18, 1961, by Paul Hodges at College Church of Christ in Murray. Their attendants were Gerald Dan Cooper and Judy Overbey.

Mrs. Gargus is the daughter of the late W.H. and Marguerite Brooks.

Mr. Gargus retired from Continental General Tire with 44 years’ service as a tire engineer. He is the son of the late William and Omega Gargus.

They have three children: Gina Claiborne and Amy Rowhuff, both of Murray, and Julie Gargus of Paducah; and three grandchildren.
