Five homers not enough for Racers

MOREHEAD -- Morehead State broke open a close game with a seven-run fifth inning, as the Eagles outslugged Murray State 19-7 in Ohio Valley Conference baseball action Saturday.

Niko Hulsizer smacked two home runs and drove in six runs for the Eagles (32-18, 16-9 OVC), who pounded five Murray State pitchers for 20 hits. Morehead added six runs in the eighth for a 19-3 lead before the Racers (24-26, 12-14) added four in the ninth on home runs from Brandon Gutzler (his second of the game), Kipp Moore and Ryan Perkins.

Jack Hranec also homered for the Racers.

Morehead's Jake Ziegelmeyer (4-1) allowed three runs over seven innings for the victory. Austin Dubsky (2-7), who allowed six runs (five earned) in four innings, took the loss.

The series concludes today.
