Lyons move on in Second Region All A

Staff report

Eddyville -- Gabe Board effectively put the game away with one swing of the bat for Lyon County in a 14-1 romp over Dawson Springs in the Second Region All "A" Classic. Board's homer came in the bottom of the first inning with one on base for two of his five RBIs, giving the Lyons a 2-1 lead it would never give up on Wednesday.

Christian Whalin and Gavin Colley split the pitching duties for the Lyons, allowing one run on one hit with four strikeouts and one walk. Along with Board's five RBI night, the Lyons pounded out 12 hits including two doubles each from Avery Ellis and Travis Yancy.

The big inning for the Lyons came in the second when they put up seven runs off of a walk, three errors, a single by Cody Holub and doubles by Yancy and Ellis. Five more runs crossed in the third inning to give the Lyons the five-inning win.
