Racers blasted early by Horned Frogs

Staff report

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Texas Christian wasted little time against Murray State by scoring seven runs in the second inning of a 15-6 NCAA baseball win on Saturday. That frame was quickly followed by a six-run third inning for the third-ranked Horned Frogs.

MSU pitchers walked 15 batters on the day and hit four more as TCU (26-5) scored its 15 runs on just seven hits. The Racers (15-15) out-hit the Horned Frogs as they got 12 knocks, including four doubles.

The Racers scored five of their six runs in the top of the fifth inning, capped by Jack Hranec's two-run double.

Tyler Lawrence matched a pair of all-time Murray State records after he went 1-for-2 at the dish with a double. Lawrence is tied with Wes Cunningham for the most career hits in school history with 236 and tied Tyler Pittman for the most doubles in program history at 55.

The Racers used six pitchers on the day with Austin Dubsky getting the start and the loss. Dubsky (2-4) pitched 12/3 innings and allowed six earned runs. The series finale starts at 1 p.m. today.
