Racers lead by 22 in Weaver Invitational

MURRAY -- The Murray State women's golf team seems poised to post their third straight win after they jumped to a 22-shot lead on Friday following the first two rounds of the Jan Weaver Invitational at Miller Memorial Golf Course.

The Racers carded scores of 299-297=596 and can tie the program record with their fifth win of the 2016-17 season with a successful final round today.

MSU led Western Kentucky (618), Louisiana-Monroe (620), Arkansas State (621) and Austin Peay (631) in the top five of 10 teams.

MSU's Moa Folke was the individual leader after she had scores of 75-73=148. She had a one-shot lead over teammate Linette Holmslykke (73-76=149) and Arkansas State's Marisa Marquez (73-76=149).

Other Racer scores included Lucila Puente (74-77=151) and Anna Moore (77-74=151) sharing fourth place with Raeysha Surendran in 11th (80-74=154).

MSU's second team was in eighth place after scores of 324-316=640. Jane Watts was in 13th (77-78=155), Sydney Kelley in 25th (82-77=159) and Nadine Innesin 25th (79-80=159). Earlena Sheets was in 49th (86-81=167) and Leah Rose in 56th (87-85=172).
