BOWLING GREEN -- Western Kentucky got a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning to get a 10-9 walk-off baseball victory over Murray State Tuesday night. MSU was able to erase an early 6-0 deficit and took a 9-8 lead heading to the bottom of the eighth inning.
After WKU (10-20) had a six-run second inning, the Racers (15-13) went to work offensively in the top of the third with five runs. Tyler Lawrence mashed his fourth career grand slam just inside the foul pole for his fifth homer of the season to cap the rally.
The Racers scored seven of their nine runs on the night with two outs and also belted five extra-base hits in the loss. Blake Clynes took the loss as he walked the leadoff batter that scored in the ninth.
MSU returns to action this weekend as it travels to the Lone Star State for a three-game series against No. 3 ranked Texas Christian. The first game is set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
