Burns no-hits Hoptown in close Caldwell win

Staff report

Burns no-hits Hoptown in close Caldwell win

PRINCETON -- At Princeton, Shane Burns and Jase Felker combined to pitch a no-hitter, but Caldwell County still needed something extra late to defeat Hopkinsville, 1-0.

Brice Thomas' single to right field with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning brought Dylan Cavanaugh home with the only run of the game.

Burns struck out 11 Hopkinsville batters over six innings, while Felker fanned three in the seventh.

Only a hit batter in both the third and seventh innings prevented a perfect game.

Oliver Parker produced two of the four hits for Caldwell.
