Lyons erupt for 12 at Beach Bash

DESTIN, Fla. -- It looked grim for Lyons starter Christian Whalin on Sunday at the Fort Walton Beach Bash as the first three hitters he faced singled, tripled, and hit a sacrifice fly to plate two runs.

But the Lyons owned the game from there, stopping Jeffersontown 12-2 in six innings.

Whalin settled down scattering five hits over 42/3 innings, and Avery Ellis came in as the closer keeping Jeffersontown hitless through the last inning.

Whalin got the win and Christian Payton got the loss for Jeffersontown.

The Lyons bats came to life in the third getting three runs, five more in the fifth and three more in the top of the sixth. Christian O'Daniel was the big bat going 2-4 with three RBIs, and Ellis helped the cause with 2-3 and two RBIs. Brody Bridges hit two doubles in a 2-4 night with an RBI, and Max Wadlington also went 2-4 with an RBI.
