My Favorite Spot

Story by Elizabeth Neelley Photography by Alex Lane

Just because the weather is turning cooler and the holiday season is here doesn't mean outdoor spaces can't still be enjoyed.

For Farmington, Ky., resident Kellie Wilferd, a covered porch off her master suite is a favorite place - more specifically, relaxing on the queen-size hanging daybed.

The idea for the space came after a trip with her sons to Lake Guntersville, Ala., where their rental home had a twin-size hanging bed, which they all fought over. When Kellie and her husband, Scott, were renovating their home, they talked with Mike Cash from Fulton, who designed and built the hanging bed based on Kellie's specs.

Enjoyed by both Kellie and her husband, they say the hanging bed provides a great view of the yard and a comfortable place to rest, read, watch TV, do computer work and spend time with their dogs.

The space is enjoyed mostly year-round and is decorated seasonally. As the hustle and bustle of the holidays begin, there's no doubt the hanging daybed will continue to be a preferred place for the Wilferds to escape the stress and busyness that seems to come along with the season.
