Lyon County High School

Staff report

EDDYVILLE -- The Class of 2016 at Lyon County High School has three valedictorians and six salutatorians.

Valedictorians are Jackson Wilford, Courtney Klueppel and Aaron Smith.

Jackson Wilford, son of Michelle Wilford, was a member of FFA, FBLA, STLP, Beta Club, Young Republicans, FCA-Youth Alive, Eddyville United Church Senior Youth Group, TSA, Soil Conservation Youth Board. He plans to attend the University of Kentucky and pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering. Afterwards, he plans on attending Orthodontic school.

Courtney Klueppel, daughter of Rebecca and Rob Klueppel, was a member of Softball, Pep Club, TSA, FFA, FCA, and Young Republicans. She plans to go to John A. Logan College to play softball and major in exercise science. Then transfer to WKU for physical therapy school.

Aaron Smith, son of Abigail and Daniel Smith, was a member of 4-H, Teen Club, 4-H TLC, 4-H Area council, 4-H State Teen Council, TSA, Beta, FBLA, Young Democrats, Pep and Tennis. He plans to attend Murray State University for Middle School Education.

Salutatorians are Landon Alvis, Nicholas Burkhart, Tyler Wilson, Abigail Wright, Ryan Galusha and Samuel Gray.

Landon Alvis, son of Bill and Amanda Alvis, plans to attend the University of Kentucky and earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Nicholas Burkhart, son of Bruce and Greta Burkhart, was a member of the Marching Band, YDDSA, Beta Club, and Academic Team. He plans on attending the University of Louisville.

Tyler Wilson, son of Anthony and Karen Wilson, was a member of Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, FCA, FFA, TSA, Young Republicans, Pep Club, Soil Conservation Youth Board, Beta Club, DART, STLP, and Teen Court. He plans on attending the University of Kentucky's College of Engineering and major in mechanical engineering.

Abigail Wright, daughter of William and Jennifer Wright, was a member of FBLA, Young Republicans, DART, Teen Court, Beta Club, Academic Team and Youth Alive. She plans to attend WKCTC and pursue a degree in journalism.

Ryan Galusha, son of Chris and Lisa Galusha, was a member of FFA, 4-H, TSA, Young Republicans, Pep Club, Soccer, and Tennis. He plans to attend Western Kentucky University and major in Sports Management.

Samuel Gray, son of Denny and Melissa Gray, was a member of FFA, Beta Club, Pep Club, Young Republicans, FCA, STLP, Student Council and Soccer. He plans to attend the University of Kentucky's College of Engineering in Paducah and major in Mechanical Engineering.
