Staff report

SMITHLAND -- Graduation ceremonies for Livingston Central High School Class of 2016 were held Friday, May 20 in the school gymnasium.

Valedictorians were Carlie Cooper and Amanda Walden.

Carlie is the daughter of Glen and Elisha Harp of Tiline and Shannon Cooper of Clarksville, Tenn. Carlie participated in the Governor's Scholars Program at Morehead State University. She was a member of the Livingston Central High School Student Technology Leadership Program, Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Science Club, and Student Council.

As a senior she served as Senior Class Reporter and Beta Club Treasurer.

She was Student of the Month in Anatomy and nominated by her peers as Most Likely to Brighten Your Day. Cooper will attend Murray State University and major in Occupational Safety and Health.

Amanda is the daughter of Glenn and Rebecca Walden of Ledbetter. Amanda participated in the Governor's Scholars Program at Bellarmine University. She was a member of the Livingston Central High School yearbook staff, Beta Club, Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America, Science Club, Teen Leadership Coalition, and Spirit Club.

As a senior she served as Student Body Secretary and Yearbook Co-Editor.

She was Student of the Month in Anatomy and Algebra III, and was nominated by her peers as Most Likely to Succeed. Walden will attend Murray State University and major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.

Salutatorians were Jared Heldenbrand and Colton McGrew.

Jared is the son of John Heldenbrand and Shelby Lowery of Ledbetter. Jared was a member of the Livingston Central High School Spanish Club, Band, Choir, Tri-M Music Honor's Society, and Future Business Leaders of America. In the summer of 2014, Jared attended the "Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts" for Piano.

As selected by the senior class of LCHS, Jared was voted Most Talented.

Jared plans to attend Murray State University with a major in Music Education (Vocal).

Colton is the son of Jeff and Patty McGrew of Smithland.

He has been a member of The National FFA Organization, Beta Club, Science Club, Student Council, Skills USA, and Sportsman's Club.

He served as Student Advisor and Vice President for FFA, President of Student Council and Class President his sophomore year, and Reporter of Beta Club.

He plans to attend Murray State University in the fall to major in Agriscience Technology.
