Ballard Memorial High School

Staff report

LACENTER -- Ballard Memorial High School observed its 64th commencement exercises on May 20 in the gymnasium here. The Class of 2016 ended with 85 graduates.

The three valedictorians were James Hayden LeFevre, Brandt Marinelli and Hannah Morrow. The salutatorian was Cutler Phillippe.

Valedictorian James Hayden LeFevre is the son of Jim and Whitney LeFevre of Kevil. He was a four-year participant in marching and concert bands and member of the academic team, a two-year Beta Club member, was selected for the Kentucky Music Educators Association All First District Symphonic and Murray State University Quad State honor bands for four years, and KMEA's All State Concert honor band for two years. He plans to attend MSU and major in music business.

Valedictorian Brandt Marinelli is the son of Stacey Marinelli of Kevil and Mike Marinelli of Paducah. He was president of his class and the Ballard chapter of Health Occupations Students of America, a member of Future Business Leaders of America and Beta Club, and a Student Ambassador. He plans to attend the University of Kentucky College of Engineering's Paducah campus and major in chemical engineering.

Valedictorian Hannah Morrow is the daughter of James Morrow and Jessica Morrow of Bandana. She was a four-year member of the Academic Team, Drama Club, where she served as vice president, and choir, where she served as president; a three-year class officer and member of Student Ambassadors; and a two-year member of Beta Club, the Bomber Belles and cheerleading squad. She received the BMHS Citizenship Award this year, and the Maestro Award from the national Heritage Music Festival organization. Morrow plans to attend Western Kentucky University and major in music.

Salutatorian Cutler Phillippe is the son of Cyndie and Chuck Phillippe of Kevil. He is a member of band, marching band, Beta and Drama clubs, FBLA, the Academic Team and a Gatton Academy interviewee. He plans to attend the UK College of Engineering's Paducah campus and major in mechanical engineering.
