For Posh's new publication director, the favorite spot in her Paducah West End home was easy to determine. In her own words, it's "hunkered down on my over-stuffed sofa in front of my wood burning fireplace!"
After years of spending time at her family's Pennsylvania cabin, just sitting on her couch by the hot fire brings back wonderful memories. It was by their hand dug fire pit, built with rocks as borders and logs to sit on, that memories of telling ghost stories, singing , playing 21 questions and roast marshmallows were made.
All year long, but especially in the winter, Patrice loves to sit by her fireplace with her feet propped up, sipping on a latte (or maybe a matcha latte!) she hand crafts using her illy Francis Francis espresso machine, a most cherished gift her husband gave her on her first Mother's Day.
Many mornings start quietly for her in front of the fireplace, but they can also end there just as easily when both she and her husband, and sometimes their daughter, curl up on the couch, reading a book, doing homework, or watching a good movie. Watching her husband tend the fire to keep it burning, she's again reminded of times at her family's cabin. Her mother would poke at the campfires, which Patrice calls "one of my favorite childhood memories."
Spending time in front of her favorite spot brings Patrice calmness and peace, and when she's there with her family, she "feels blessed, like all is good in the world!"
Stay tuned to our Spring issue for a new "Favorite Spot" that's sure to please our Derby readers!
