Don Canter of Graves County is the first to drive over the newly rebuilt Leeder Bottoms Bridge in his 1930 Model A Ford on Thursday afternoon over Mayfield Creek on old U.S. 45. The original bridge being built in 1927, gave way in June of 2011 due to a combination of rain and existing scouring. Canter requested to be the first to drive over simply for nostalgia purposes connecting the eras of the original bridge and car. Construction on the new bridge began in May 2012, and opens officially today.
