Dr. Brady Harris, a future general surgeon at West Kentucky Surgical at Murray-Calloway County Hospital, received the J. David Richardson M.D. Award and Trauma Institute Award for Excellence by the University of Louisville Hiram C. Polk Jr. M.D. Department of Surgery.
Harris is in his third year of surgical residency, and plans to move to Murray in 2014 to practice general surgery with Dr. Craig Dowdy, Dr. David Koelsch and Dr. Brian Swain at West Kentucky Surgical.
Harris was awarded the Richardson Award as the best overall third-year surgical resident based on clinical work and skill. The Trauma Institute award goes to the most outstanding resident in trauma surgery and surgical critical care.
A Calloway County High School graduate, Harris attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine after graduating from Murray State University. He is the son of Rick and Patty Harris of Murray.

Dr. Ben Leonard joined the Eye Care Associates of Kentucky in Calvert City. Leonard earned an undergraduate degree at Freed-Hardeman University, and a doctorate of optometry at Nova Southeastern University where he earned honors in the clinical and optical programs.

Collins graduated from Tennessee State University and the University of St. Eustatius School of Medicine. Sperry earned a degree from Murray State University and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

Vascular surgeon Dr. Griffin K. Bicking joined the medical staff at Western Baptist Hospital. Bicking joins vascular surgeon Dr. Joseph F. Mayo in treating vascular disease, such as abdominal aortic aneurysm, carotid artery blockages and peripheral artery disease.
A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Scranton, Bicking earned a medical degree, as well as completed residency and fellowship in vascular surgery, at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Lourdes welcomed Dan Bergman as executive director of the Ray and Kay Eckstein Cardiovascular Institute. Bergman comes to Lourdes from the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, where he served as the associate director of the Regional Heart Center. He brings more than 25 years of experience in cardiovascular leadership, and earned his undergraduate degree, and master’s degree in business administration, from Northwest University.

Joseph Crawford, a 10-year employee at Murray-Calloway County Hospital, was named director of endoscopy, as well as director of the upcoming Wound Care Unit.
Crawford began his career at MCCH as a nursing assistant in 2002, and he earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Murray State University in 2004, after which he began working in the emergency room as a registered nurse. In 2007, Crawford moved to the radiology/cath lab before becoming the endoscopy unit coordinator in 2011.
The hospital plans to open a Wound Care Unit on the second floor of the North Tower.
