Representatives from across the state’s medical community will descend on Paducah this weekend, not only for the barbecue, but for a chance to discuss the issues relating to regional free health clinics.

The Kentucky Free Health Clinic Association will hold its 2012 statewide conference at the Emerging Technology Center at West Kentucky Community & Technical College on Thursday and Friday.

With a consortium of free health clinic physicians, administrators, board members and supporters, the conference has scheduled sessions to discuss issues such as electronic medical records implementation, marketing and trending medical topics.

The conference will also offer free continuing education units for nurses on Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“It’s really the only opportunity for Kentucky-based free clinics to get together and share ideas, learn new ideas and learn about the resources available to access,” said Brandi Harless, executive director of St. Nicholas Family Clinic.
