KEVIL — William Ray ‘Bill’ Carter Jr., 80, of Kevil, Ky., passed away at 3:44 a.m. at the home of his daughter on Sunday, November 25, 2012.

Mr. Carter was a member of Spring Bayou Baptist Church, a retired boilermaker with TVA and also worked construction for local #40. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 31.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Debby Abell and her husband Mike of Kevil, Ky.; two sons, Steve Carter and his wife Terrie, and Mike Carter and his wife Mary Nell, all of Kevil, Ky.; six grandchildren, Dustin Abell and his wife Shae, Tye Abell and his wife Emily, Misty Moore and her husband Ches, Crystal Franks and her husband Jeff, Savanna Moss and her husband Jim, and Dylan Carter; a stepgrandson, Jeremy McIntosh and his wife Tammy; seven great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Kiley and Gavin Moore, Carrington and Carter Franks, Carley and Jessy Jo Moss and Samuel Abell; two stepgranddaughters, Jessica and Molly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Holbert Carter; and a daughter, Vivian Dawn Carter. His parents were Ray and Ruby Smith Carter.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Terry Tipton officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery.

The Carter family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Boilermaker Rites being held at 7:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
